Alberta School Initiative
MHFA Canada is pleased to annouce the successful conclusion of the Alberta School Initiative, with over 800 teachers and school staff throughout the province trained as mental health first aiders. Alberta Schools were the first in Canada to be offered this opportunity.
5.5 Day MHFA Canada Youth Course
Based on numerous requests, and in alignment with the MHFA Australia program, MHFA Canada has developed a schedule for the 5.5 day MHFA Canada Youth Instructor Training course. See the "Find a Course" section of the website for the national schedule of this new course!

The French translations of the Mental Health First Aid Canada programs (Basic and Youth) are complete and are being proofread prior to printing. Anti-stigma / Anti-discrimination Initiative

Mental illness affects people of every age and every walk of life. Many people say the stigma they experience is often worse than the disease itself. The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) has been given a mandate to undertake a 10-year initiative to reduce stigma and discrimination. It will be the largest systematic effort to reduce the stigma of mental illness in Canadian History. This initiative will be based on a targeted, outcomes-oriented strategic plan, developed from the best available research and will be measured for effectiveness.
